Finally, the value of a 4-carat diamond also depends on the analysis certificate associated with it, and especially on the gemological laboratory that issued it. Many laboratories around the world can issue such certificates, but few are truly recognized; among them are GIA (the GIA certificate is the one that gives the most value to a diamond), HRD, IGI, and LFG. Conversely, other gemological laboratories have a bad reputation and their certificate will therefore have no value (this is particularly the case with AIG).
