Investment Diamond: Understanding Before Selling
Since the 1980s, thousands of French people have purchased diamonds presented as
"safe investments." The reality is often more nuanced. Our role is to provide you with
an honest and transparent evaluation, even if the truth is sometimes hard to hear.
We evaluate all types of investment diamonds:
GIA Certified Diamonds
The global standard in gemology. The GIA certificate guarantees a rigorous evaluation recognized on all international markets.
Most reliable market value
IGI / HRD Certified Diamonds
Recognized and reliable European laboratories. IGI and HRD certificates allow for a precise evaluation of your stone, with good market valuation.
Reliable and recognized evaluation
CIBJO / SCAN Certificates
These certificates, frequently used in the 80s-90s for investment sales, often show significant overvaluations. Our expertise determines the true value.
Expertise needed — we tell you the truth
Why Does the Resale Price Differ from the Purchase Price?
This is the most common question from our clients. Here are the main reasons, which we explain transparently:
Initial commercial margins
Diamond investment companies apply margins of 30 to 60% on the market price. Your diamond is often worth less than the price paid, regardless of its quality.
Overvalued certificates
Some certificates (CIBJO, SCAN) assign higher grades than reality. A diamond certified "E/VVS1" by a commercial laboratory may be re-evaluated "G/VS2" according to GIA standards.
Market fluctuations
The price of diamonds evolves according to global supply and demand. Stones from 0.50 to 1 carat have held up better than very small stones, but the market has experienced significant corrections.
"Our commitment: to tell you the truth about your diamond's value. We prefer a relationship of trust to a dishonest transaction."

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my investment diamond worth what I paid?In most cases, no. Investment companies apply significant margins (30 to 60%) and sometimes use certificates that overvalue the stone's characteristics. We give you the true value, based on international market prices and GIA criteria.
What is the difference between a GIA certificate and a CIBJO certificate?GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is the global standard: its criteria are strict and recognized everywhere. CIBJO or SCAN certificates, used in the 80s-90s, apply different standards that tend to overvalue color and clarity. A diamond certified D/IF by CIBJO may be re-evaluated F/VS1 or lower by GIA standards.
How long does the appraisal take? The appraisal of an investment diamond typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. We analyze the stone under a loupe and microscope, verify the certificate, and present our offer promptly. You leave with payment on the same day if you accept.
I have several investment diamonds to sell. Is that possible?Absolutely. We buy back lots of investment diamonds, regardless of quantity. Each stone is individually appraised. For large lots, we can arrange a dedicated appointment in our Parisian salon or come to your home.
Is the original certificate necessary? The certificate facilitates appraisal but is not essential. Our master diamond merchants evaluate the stone based on its actual characteristics, independently of any certificate. If the certificate overvalues the stone, our appraisal takes precedence.
